INDIE BOOK Reviews for THE CARDINAL  PROMISE -written by Theresa  St. Vincent

  1. “The Cardinal Promise” by Theresa St. Vincent is by far one of the most engaging and unique  novels I’ve read in a long time! I was completely drawn in from the get-go, and absolutely loved the author’s vivid use of description of the different scenery and locales, and her attention to detail, especially with the characters and the time setting and the places. This is so much more than just a “romance” story  - it is a story of a life, and overcoming adversity despite the odds and how the past affects the present. There are some shocking twists, some unexpected revelations that complicate things further for the leads, Therese and Rick. The ending was bittersweet and satisfying, and probably not what one would expect from a typical romance novel. But then again this book was definitely not typical. Pick it up today … you won’t regret it!" (4-5 stars) - Indie Book Reviewers.

  2. “The Cardinal Promise” is an engaging novel that captured my attention from the beginning and never once let it go. Each scene was riveting, imaginative, and well- crafted. The narrative and dialogue propelled the story at a good pace for the most part, and I enjoyed the blend of past and present characters, and especially how it played into the romantic drama. Gave it a unique flavor, I think, to see the differences in life back then as opposed to today. Rick and Therese have a powerful relationship that is anything but predictable and faces many obstacles. How they end up is not for me to reveal, but their journey is a memorable and impactful one. I did think at times there was a bit too much ‘telling’ narrative that kept us more at arm’s length than I prefer, but overall a nice read that I’d recommend to mature fans of romantic suspense." (4 stars) - Indie Book Reviewers

  3. "This book was terrific! Once I started reading I didn’t want to stop until I’d finished the whole thing, but it did take me a few nights. Within the first few pages we are intrigued by Therese’s spiritual, emotional, and literal journey (to Venice), and transported back in time to where it all began… I particularly enjoyed the author’s “voice” and style of writing. The interweaving plotlines were well-crafted and original, and the themes of love, life, loss, and just overall challenges people face were handled with respect and felt authentic, not like contrived drama often used to sell books. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill love story, but still real, poignant, and moving with a wonderful spiritual element. The characters (main and supporting)  were all fleshed out and fully realized, with much more complexity than I see in a lot of books these days. I’d love to read more from Therese St. Vincent someday. Recommend for adults only." (4-5 stars) -Indie Book Reviewers

PRESS:

“At its core, Rick and Therese’s story is one of second chances; a life-lesson on compassion and forgiveness,” explains St. Vincent, who is finally pursuing her childhood dream of becoming a published author. “We all falter in love, enter relationships with weaknesses and sometimes even the darkest of pasts – but love is ultimately a non-judgemental arena where both people grow in strength through each other. If you have faith in yourself and in others, love can easily become a boundless playground for harmony.”

Continuing, “It’s all about not losing hope and regaining strength when it dwindles; exactly as Rick is forced to do to pursue his love for Therese. It’s certainly unique, and the initial response to the book has been overwhelmingly positive!”

St. Vincent is correct – readers have come forward with rave reviews. For example, Joan comments, “This book was a page turner. Wonderful combination of suspense and romance with sprinkles of enough humor to make a serious problem light hearted. Characters past lives and present lives comingle. Characters leap from the page with both intensity and passion which drives them onwards. Great read.”

Rosanne Heaton adds, “Theresa you have such a beautiful talent! Don't let anyone deter you from your life's dream. Super read!! Once I started I could not put the book down and truly it was an awesome combination of suspense and romance. The character's story lines were interesting in how they mingled from their younger days to present time. Humorous at times too. Really great read! Congratulations!”
